Clare Barton-Harvey                                  artist

I am a full time artist, tutor and freelance workshop teacher/trainer living and working in London.

I received BA (Hons) Fine Art in 1998, and in 2003 studied drawing, to MA level, at the Royal Drawing School. In 2017 I participated in post-graduate study with Bob and Roberta Smith (RA), at the Essential School of Painting. I am fascinated by the relationship between art, mindfulness and creativity, which inspires both my artistic practice and my teaching work.

I have been practising mindfulness for over 25 years and have been teaching drawing and mindfulness courses and workshops for over 15 years. I trained with Breathworks mindfulness teacher training in 2006-7 and have devised numerous workshops, courses and retreats exploring the relationship of mindfulness, creativity, the imagination and drawing/painting, in both Buddhist and secular contexts. I currently work at the City Literary Institute, and as a freelance workshop leader in a variety of locations including The National Gallery and Hampton Court Palace, where I engage mindfulness and drawing as a tool for a more enriched visitor experience of the history and context of place and fine art/museum collections.

I am a practising Buddhist and received full ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2006.
