Explore the richness of the imagination in drawing and painting. Cultivate a range of methods for stimulating and connecting to what inspires you, and ways to express your imagination freely through the medium of painting and drawing. Dates: 7/6/24 - 5/7/24 Fridays 10-1pm
Through a range of guided drawing and painting approaches discover how to access the imagination and find enrichment within it. You will work from a variety of sources of inspiration to help you access, develop and sustain your imaginative engagement and express yourself with increased freedom and confidence. Suitable for enthusiastic beginners to drawing and painting as well as those with experience who wish to refresh their practice or expand their skills.
What will we cover
Explore ways of accessing the imagination and create drawings and paintings from a variety of sources of inspiration
You will be introduced to a range of artists work and their sources of inspiration ranging from everyday life, to landscape, colour and visionary experience
Each session will offer some skills input e.g. on colour, creative process, painting methods, ways of developing your own subject matter and articulating your experience directly through the medium of drawing and painting
A toolkit of painting methods and approaches that will inform your work into the future
There will be a guided mindfulness meditation practice each day to aid concentration in your painting practice
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to…
- Identify and employ a variety of sources of inspiration for your imagination
- Draw and paint from your imagination
- Employ a toolkit of resources to access, free-up and sustain your imaginative engagement
- Develop a body of work from initial sources
- Identify how mindfulness can support creative practice
Suitable for those with experience of drawing and painting who wish to refresh their practice or expand their skills in this subject area as well as enthusiastic beginners. Bring an open mind and be prepared to let go, play and experiment.
Note: This workshop will be taught online. All you need is an email address, computer/tablet/laptop, a reliable internet connection and a comfortable place to work where you can also see the screen (note: your device will need a microphone, and preferably a camera)
