ONLINE Drawing and mindfulness - the art of being

3-HOUR ONLINE WORKSHOP

An exploration of drawing and mindfulness and how more ‘being’ as distinct from ‘doing’ in the drawing process can lead to many benefits including a greater feeling for your materials, connection to your subject matter and a sense of creative freedom.

Date: 11/02/24 Sunday 10-1pm
Fee: £30/20(concs)

What is the workshop about?

Through a series of guided drawing and mindfulness exercises you’ll explore a variety of ways of connecting to drawing to stimulate your inspiration and build confidence in your use of mark-making and composition.

Its so easy to over-work an image – out of habit, lack of confidence, anxiety or simply not taking the time to consider your options.

In this workshop we'll explore how to counteract these tendencies by:

  • Looking at drawings that include an awareness and appreciation of space e.g. Hokusai (above) and Henri Matisse

  • Identifying methods for cultivating awareness to support more 'flexibility' and 'choice' in the drawing process

  • Practice methods for reducing anxiety and cultivating creative flow, by shifting from ‘doing’ to ‘being’ when drawing

  • Explore economy and simplicity in drawing and composition

Who for?

Suitable for beginners as well as those with experience in drawing and/or mindfulness who wish to have a morning of practice and develop your drawing
